Denotation:

This self-portrait not only portray my physical self, but also my personality, identity, and spirituality. I use very personal items in my life like index cards of scripture I keep stuck to my bedroom mirror to read and memorize as items of collage. Reading these index cards have been a pick me up for my Christian walk during many hard times or simply daily reminders that I walk in peace because of Christ and how to love others well. The rip in the paper expresses the struggle to keeps my faith even in dark times and the figure is stitching the rip back together trying to hold onto the faith that makes me feel most like myself. Keeping the brightness, the love, and more specifically the green (my favorite color) and the daisies (my favorite flower) in my life, which I consider to be great tokens of my personality.
