The Basic Water Rescue is an American Red Cross course designed to help people have a better understanding of how to prevent, recognize, and know what to do in a water related emergency. The 3 hour course results in a nationally recognized certification that lasts for 3 years. It meets the CA State requirements for foster and adoptive parents water safety certification and is found to be the appropriate level of certification for Water Watchers of Girl Scouts of Greater Los Angeles.
Participants must be at least 15 years old at the time of completion.
Participants must feel confident in the water and are able to dip their head below the surface without goggles and the use of a nose plug.
Participants must participate in all skills sessions and pass a brief final exam with at least 80% of the answers correct.
This course is non-refundable but transferable to another student for $22.
