Light Travels | Lig Reis

Listen to Dr Neill Stevenson of Leopard Press's comment on poems "Crossing Chronos" | "Kruis Kronos"

CROSSING CHRONOS

If Soul is sick with tick-tock clocks,

take a dreamer’s boat to a spot in the seas

where meridians meet: imagine a line

and balance on it or float on you back

across west and east but the main thing is,

if you stay light (don't think too hard)

then all of Time’s divinities will find a gap

and intervene —

Soul can be free, collapse in the laps

of Fortune, Occasion

and Memory.

In response to “Chronos eats its children” by Robin Reynolds Barre in Poetic inquiry as social justice and political response.

KRUIS KRONOS

Wanneer Gees bedees is van tik-tok-klokke

neem ’n dromer se boot na ’n plek in die see

waar meridiane verenig:

verbeel jou ’n lyn waarop jy balanseer

of dryf op jou rug oor wes en oos

maar die hoof-ding is as jy lig bly

nie te veel konsentreer nie

sal al Tyd se gode ’n gaping kry

om oor te steek en in te tree —

Gees vry wees, slaap in die skoot

van Geluk, Geleentheid

en Geheue.
