March 14, 1968

"After two hundred consecutive marches, Father Groppi, the NAACP Youth Council, and their supporters concluded their demonstrations on March 14th 1968. About 325 demonstrators, including Father Groppi, the YC, and Alderwoman Vel Phillips, walked their paths into the predominantly white neighborhoods which by then had become routine, for a final time. Though the protests had gained national attention and raised the profile of the marches on Milwaukee, the Youth Council suspended their actions without passage of a fair housing law."
