There were many groups working on issues facing African Americans in Milwaukee, including police brutality. This article discusses a notice that people who had experienced police brutality could have their experience documented at “listening posts” and testify at a public hearing on police brutality.

Questions for reflection:

1. What is the purpose of the listening posts?

2. What purpose do you think these groups had in documenting experiences of police brutality?

3. Why is it important that people document or speak out about problems with police and other officials today?
