“Leveraging pharmacists for tobacco cessation: New policy tools, evidence, and success stories”
Attendance an online digital event on May. 31, 2024 entitled “Leveraging pharmacists for tobacco cessation: New policy tools, evidence, and success stories”. The event was offered by International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP).
Description: There are about 1.25 billion adult tobacco users all over the world, and 60% of them desire to quit, but only about 35% of the globe’s population have arrival to inclusive tobacco cessation services. Offered the universal prevalence and burden of tobacco usage, especially as a risk factor for noncommunicable illnesses, it is essential that the services supplied by pharmacists in this region are expanded and combined.
At the present event, FIP launched a universal intelligence report about pharmacist-led tobacco cessation services. However, a joint WHO-FIP statement and invite to action on the function of pharmacists in tobacco stopping and examples of prosperous pharmacist services/interventions in tobacco cessation were offered, along with outcomes from a systematic literature review and a survey.
