“Empowering pharmacists to support tobacco cessation in Western Pacific Region”

Attendance an online digital event on Jun. 25, 2024 entitled “Empowering pharmacists to support tobacco cessation in Western Pacific Region”. The event was offered by International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP).

Description: In the Western Pacific Region (WPR), around 22.5 % of individuals aged 15 years and over were present tobacco users. Offered the regional and global prevalence and burden of tobacco usage, especially as a risk factor for noncommunicable illnesses, it is essential that the function of pharmacists in this region is extended and combined.

The Western Pacific Pharmaceutical Forum and FIP invited us to join the present event to educate more concerning the burden of tobacco usage in the Western Pacific area and the function that pharmacists can perform in tobacco cessation. The present event included visions from the WHO Regional Office, the presentation of FIP resources, and country examples of pharmacist services to progress tobacco cessation by pharmacists.
