Important End-of-Season Instructions
Maine Tax-Aide trained and qualified volunteers provide free federal & state income tax preparation and electronic filing (e-file) services at many sites across Maine from late January to mid-April each year.
Although this program is primarily designed for low to middle-income and elderly taxpayers, there are no income or age restrictions and no AARP membership requirement to receive Tax-Aide assistance.
Volunteers are trained and certified annually by both the IRS and AARP Foundation to prepare and e-file federal and state tax returns that fall within the scope of the IRS VITA/TCE and Tax-Aide program. This includes most Form 1040, 1040ME, and accompanying schedules and worksheets.
And make a difference in your community.
Giving back feels good. Especially when it’s for a cause as worthwhile and rewarding as AARP Foundation Tax-Aide.
We’re always looking for volunteers who want to make a difference by directly helping people who can’t afford to pay for professional tax preparation — and often miss out on much-needed tax breaks and refunds as a result.
You don’t have to be a tax pro to volunteer with us. Whether you’re looking to stay sharp during retirement, learn new career skills, or simply share experiences with other like-minded volunteers, there are many ways you can help.
