Information and Digital Literacy can go hand and hand in especially when it comes to the English Classroom. Online resources provide a way to let students still learn about the intended standard for the day while also having a more involved learning experience. When it comes to the English classroom especially, digital literacy can heavily impact a student's understanding of the information. This can affect the ethical use of information, reviewing credible sources, and protecting your own information. In terms of this lesson, digital literacy is vital for drawing important information, as well as conveying that information to peers. The ability for the students to collect information from the sources and evaluate them to determine what is most important about Shakespeare, as well as their ability to decipher what is fact and what is "perceived fact," especially given Shakespeare's more mysterious origins. This lesson has been designed using numerous online sources, which are linked in the lesson plan. If you wish to view my example Voki, please click here.
This lesson relies heavily on my own technology integration framework. The use of Padlet allows for students to feel comfortable asking clarifying questions without having to physically ask them themselves. This provides an anonymous way to engage the students and measure their level of understanding while promoting class engagement. The creation of a Voki also provides this same type of resource and involvement. Students are able to engage with the content and share what they know, interacting with higher levels of thinking, through a form of presentation that doesn't involve public speaking.

Class Description
This unit is designed with the thought of a typical 9th grade classroom in Spotsylvania County, Virginia, which is the school district I grew up in and am likely to teach in for my first few years of teaching. This means that the class size would be approx. 25 students, with 12 male students and 13 female students. Roughly 2 students are Hispanic, 5 are African American, 1 is Asian American student, and the remaining 17 are White. In thinking about economic background, this highly varies by the school. For this purpose, I will be using the high school that I attended as a model, placing 4 students at lower-income, 15 students at middle income, and 6 students of higher income.
Rationale
Most classrooms require the teaching of historical literature, this lesson would be fulfilling the curriculum map in hopes of establishing a basis in Shakespeare for the students.
