ARCS Model of Motivation
This model, designed for evaluating engagement centers around four main pillars: attention, relevance, confidence, and satisfaction. It considers many strategies for what makes a successful and engaging lesson such as the application of real-world examples, humor, praise, and future relevance. Many students may find it difficult to dedicate their attention to this they believe will have no use for them in the future, making this evaluation system particularly handy in order to find motivators.
"Made to Stick"
The "Made to Stick" principles were created in 2007 and revolve around making memorable and engaging connections to information, highlighting 6 key categories and concepts: simple, unexpected, concrete, credible, emotional, story. Think of all the times surprising statistics, anecdotes, and jokes have stuck with you, even if only hearing them in passing. Chances are that these events were unexpected, simple, credible, or any of the other factors. The brain stores notable information and that often comes in the forms which are presented here.
