Traditions:

The candy cane is a favorite peppermint flavored candy. Why though, you might wonder, has this candy become so popular to pass out at Christmas time? What is the significance and does it have any connection to faith?

Legend has it that the candy cane originated from the peppermint stick. An Indiana-based candymaker shaped the peppermint stick into a "J" to symbolize Jesus, with the white symbolizing Jesus' purity and the red, the blood that Jesus shed on the cross.

Whether the legend is true or not, fact remains that this sweet treat is a favorite for many. Watch the YouTube video below: The Legend of the Candy Cane.
