Second Week of Advent

December 7th, 2020

Lectio Divina:

Lectio Divina:

  • Lectio (Read) Read the Scripture passage. As you read the passage, listen for any words or phrases that jump out or that resonate within you. If nothing seems to resonate, that's okay. Just listen again to the text and have patience. Be gentle in your listening.

  • Meditatio (Reflect) Read the same passage again. This time, focus on (meditate) on the words or phrases that have resonated with you. Don't analyze the passage though - just think about what God might be saying to you.

  • Oratio (Prayer) Read the passage a third time. This time, respond to your thoughts. You can respond by prayer or by journaling whatever comes to mind in response to what you have read and what sticks out for you.

  • Contemplatio (Contemplation) After reading the passage one last time, just allow for silence. Just sit quietly (5-10 minutes). Allow God to work in this silence.

The Visit of the Shepherds

Luke 2: 15-20

When the angels went away from them to heaven, the shepherds said to one another, "Let us go, then, to Bethlehem to see this thing that has taken place, which the Lord has made known to us."

So they went in haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the infant lying the in the manger.

When they saw this, they made known the message that had been told them about this child.

All who heard it were amazed by what had been told them by the shepherds.

And Mary kept all these things, reflecting on them in her heart.

Then the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen, just as it had been told to them.
