A special welcome, I put together for students using Sway.
The Professional ePortfolio class was designed to help students learn how to showcase what they learned in college to a professional audience.
In this class, you will create a professional portfolio. A professional portfolio is a website you will build to show what you have learned in college. It will be written in a way that highlights your skills to employers and graduate schools. Your ePortfolio will be as unique as you are.
Throughout the semester, I will teach you how to think about your audience and show you how to match your skills to industry buzzwords (aka career competencies). I will guide you regarding what to include and what to leave out and how to write about your experiences in meaningful ways. This course is very practical and will be useful for any major.
No worries, I don't expect you to know how to do it yet. We will walk through this process step by step together.
We will be doing a lot of hands-on activities so you will need to bring your digital device to every class.
In this course you will do the following:
Create an ePortfolio to showcase your talents, skills, and experiences digitally.
Demonstrate audience awareness by matching messages to your target audience.
Connect your experiences to career competencies in spoken and written reflections.
Write reflections that showcase your intellectual strengths and personal growth.
Construct your resume using best practices for your target audience.
Create a LinkedIn profile.
Build your brand by crafting thematic messages across platforms.
Use constructive criticism to revise your work.
Provide detailed constructive criticism on the work of others.
Engage in regular in-class networking activities.

To efficiently create the portfolio course, I did extensive research. I headed the U of A's team that participated in the Association of American Colleges and Universities ePortfolio Institute where we learned from the National Organization and peer institutions.
We built a website for the University of Arkansas portfolios that can be used by any teacher on campus.
