There are many great national leaders. I love and respect them all. But among them Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru is my favorite hero.
Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru was born on 14th November, 1889. He was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. His father was Motilal Nehru. His mother was Swarup Rani. He got his education in England. He became barrister-in-law.
He had everything in his life. He could have lived like a price all his life. But he was not interested in personal happiness. He met Gandhiji in 1916. He joined India's first fight for freedom. He put his heart and soul into it. He spent many years in jail. Some of his best known books like the Discovery Of India were written in prison. India got her freedom on August 15, 1947. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru was made the first prime minister. He remained our prime minister for seventeen long years. He made India great and strong. His name and fame spread far and wide. He became a world leader. Under his leadership and guidance India progressed tremendously in many fields.
He loved children. They lovingly called him Chacha Nehru. We celebrate his birthday as Bal Din (children's Day). He has written three great books. Among the Glimpses of World History is worth reading.
