Mahatma Gandhi is known as the father of the Nation. He was born at Porbandar in Gujarat on 2nd October 1869.
From his early age, Gandhiji was very truthful and honest. After passing his matriculation examination he went to England and became a barrister.
Gandhiji went to South Africa for a case. There he found Indians being ill-treated by the whites. Gandhiji fought against this injustice, tooth and nail. He had to suffer a lot of hardships and cruelties during this fight. But at last he was successful. He taught Indians how to fight injustice. His method was called satyagraha.
Then he returned to India. He fought against the British government for freedom of our country. At last he won freedom for us.
He also worked hard to abolish untouchability to improve the lot of the Harijans.
He gave us the message of truth, non-violence and love. He taught us to have complete faith in god. He said that truth is god and that service to man is service to god.
Such a glorious life was cut short by a fanatic on January 30, 1948.
Not only India but also the whole world lamenated over this great loss.
