The Great Gemini Circus once came to our city. It pitched a huge tent on the open ground outside the city.
I visited the circus with my father, mother, grandfather and grandmother. We bought tickets for an afternoon show and entered the tent. The tent was brightly lit. It was full.
The show started with the performance of a party of ten snow-white horses beautifully decorated. They went round and round in the ring with the riders standing on them. The riders balanced themselves with great skill.
Next came some young girls attractively dressed. They rode single-wheeled cycles on wire ropes hung high up in the air. Men and women performed dangerous feats on swings hanging at the top of the tent.
Brightly dressed bandmen played on shining brass instrument through out the show.
Animals did strange tricks. The ring master made a pair of lions do many exciting feats. Elephants were made to stand on small, strong, wooden stools. The show ended with the ride of a motor-cyclist inside a huge globe. It was really a thrilling feat. I held my breath while watching it.
In the interval between two items, a clown in a multicolored dress and funny make-up amused us with funny-remarks, gestures and stupid acts. We roared with laughter.
I was thrilled with joy as I came out of the circus tent. My heart was full of admiration for the performers who entertained us with such fine amusement.
