Luke 18:1-8
Will Jesus Find Faith on Earth in His Second Coming
1 Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up. 2 He said: “In a certain town there was a judge who neither feared God nor cared what people thought. 3 And there was a widow in that town who kept coming to him with the plea, ‘Grant me justice against my adversary.’
4 “For some time he refused. But finally he said to himself, ‘Even though I don’t fear God or care what people think, 5 yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so that she won’t eventually come and attack me!’”
6 And the Lord said, “Listen to what the unjust judge says. 7 And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? 8 I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?”
Man gets caught up in things, such as work, success, friends, family, hobbies, and the busyness of life...Maybe that is a good thing, or maybe not...In our busyness are we forgetting about God?...Are we forgetting about our faith?...Is faith dwindling on earth?...And will as technology and all the modern things fill our lives so much, will we, along with science phase out God in the next hundreds of years...Jesus even asks this question two thousand years ago...When He is teaching us about persistence, and being persistent at doing things...When the Son of Man returns, He asks, will He find faith on earth?...Will we be so caught up in the things around us and on earth, will there still be people of faith...
Are we slowly losing our faith as time runs on and on, and the time of Jesus gets further and further removed from us?...While in Jesus' day, faith and God was something, I think, taken for granted, and I think most people had faith (but not all)...The gospels lead me to believe that God is part of a daily or at least a regular part of one's life and one's conversation, in Jesus time...
I think the world needs faith, or at least I do...I need God and His Son and the Holy Spirit...I need to know that there are Sacred and Holy Things...I need the Spiritual and Miracles...These are all things of God, and I think many people need them...
The Parable above shows us a rogue judge, who did not fear God...The judge shows little compassion...And it also shows us a persistent widow who wanted righteousness and justice...And it was most difficult in Jesus' time for a singe female widow to speak up and always get justice...In this want of righteousness and justice, she is bothersome to the judge...Jesus tells us this search for righteousness and justice begins with prayer to our Father...Jesus told His disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up...They should not give up and continue to pray and pray...The answer to our prayers should always be persistent, because we do not know when God is going to answer them...We are to be patient and persistent in our prayers...
Faith is vey important in man's life...Man is Spiritual...As we think about our own patience and persistence, will we continue our patience and persistence looking for Jesus' Second Coming?...Are we thinking about His Second Coming now?...Do we even believe that He will make His return?...Jesus reminds us to keep up our prays with persistence and patience, knowing one day He will return...And let us maintain the persistence to looking for righteousness and justice from our Father at the time that He chooses...His timing is always right...Let us pray that we patiently and persistently trust in God and keep the faith...
