Students have embarked on a number of World of Work days, where they have had the opportunity to learn more about a variety of professions.
Representatives from the Trafford Centre came to Loreto College to give Pathways students a presentation on working there, and then did group interview activities with them, leading to some of them getting further interviews and landing placements. Students prepared CVs and dressed up in their smartest clothes!
Students from group 3 went for a world of work day at the Whitworth, in which they participated in an arts and crafts workshop led by artist in residence Sally Hirst. The students used sticks, tissue paper, glue, ribbons and beads to create beautiful and expressive wands, which are now displayed in the department. They greatly enjoyed the opportunity to experience the day in the life of an artist, allowing them to express themselves creatively and learn some new arts and crafts skills.
Group 2 were given the opportunity to go for a tour of Manchester Piccadilly station, learning about Network Rail, and the variety of jobs available in the sector, such as train conductors. They met some very important people in the Rail industry, and learnt about the environmental responsibilities of the sector. Brendan and Hiba also made announcements!
