Focus: Paragraph Structure and Sentence Building
By the end of this session, learners will be able to:
Understand the basic components of a paragraph, including topic sentence, supporting details, and concluding sentence.
Create a simple outline using keywords to plan paragraph content.
Write a clear and focused topic sentence relevant to the paragraph’s topic.
Compose supporting sentences with basic explanations or examples.
Compile a complete paragraph about animals using proper structure and submit it via Padlet.
The word paragraph comes from the Latin word paragraphos. A paragraph is a group of sentences that share a common topic or idea. Then, a good example of a paragraph contains a topic sentence, supporting details and a conclusion. There are several steps to write a good paragraph:
Step 1 is write an outline using just a few words to get the structure.
Step 2 is to write the topic sentence.
Step 3 is to write the detail sentences that relate to the topic.
Step 4 is to write the concluding sentence.
Step 5 is to put them all together and write out the complete paragraph.
EXAMPLE:
There are many different kinds of animals that live in India. Tigers and leopards are animals that live in India's forests in the north. It is belongs to the most biggest population in India, and protected by the government. Therefore, those two animals are becomes an uniqueness in India and protected with full government authority .
