I felt as though there were too many pieces in the game and the board was entirely too large, so I reduced them both. From a 16x16 or 256 tile board, to a 4x4 or 16 tile board. From a 15 piece game to a 4 piece game. The main objective is still to get all of your pieces to the other side where their initial starting position is but it shortens the game and makes it less complex. Since the board is so small, you cannot jump over pieces, but there is still strategy in blocking the opponent instead. I changed the game in this way because I believed it was overly complex and frustrating, the jumping wasn't consistent either, so I reduced and changed it.Â
I played my game and I enjoyed it a lot more because I wasn't as overwhelmed with the wide spread of tiles, pieces, rules, and so on. There was less to focus on which made it better to play for me. I like the strategies that can be imagined especially when players decide to get creative. There's a lot a player can do with the small amount they have and it's fun finding out what works best.
