The core mechanics within the competitive racing game that is Speedrunners include powerups to slow your opponents down or put the player in a better position, super-speed which is limited and can be re-gained using a spot on the map, varying maps, it's based off of elimination and outrunning opponents, an increasingly small field that reduces vision but forces the players to keep up or fall behind and lose, jumping and double-jumping, grappling-hooking the white walls for shortcuts, levers to cut off pathways, and the games are first to three.
The amount of players would be 2-4 with a "High-Roller" type theme. It's an elimination game where the last person alive wins! All of the items and spaces are described below. To further immerse the player, I have some of the music from the game embedded (and here: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/2iUMYLiaCgdEuFUBbYv1bz?si=baaa5925ff534d9a) and I recommend putting it on loop. All of the information needed is listed below. My explanation/walkthrough of the game is on my YouTube channel and below as well.

THE GAME ON STEAM: https://store.steampowered.com/app/207140/SpeedRunners/
Alright, hello! My name is Logan. This is my deconstruction board game of a video game, SpeedRunners. Which is on Steam. I also have more information and break down the mechanics a lot more on my portfolio website under Discussions. Alright, so, to get to it! These are the four players that you can play as. So, for this example, we'll be this character right here. These are all the different items we can use, and I'll go into further detail.. and these are all the different spots you can land on.. and each player starts with four tokens (or pieces) and if you were to land on THIS spot, if you used half of them (tokens) then you were to gain both of them back. If you were to land on this spaces right here. The winning conditions of the game is to be the last alive and it's a game of elimination, so let's say these guys were playing too. So if we were 25 spaces ahead of this guy right here, he would be eliminated, and same goes for this person here too. If they're both eliminated and you're the last person standing, you win! So to start the game off, you roll four dice. With the roll that you get, we got 15, you were to go ahead 15 spots. Then you would keep going. The different amount of dice that you roll depend on different items and such... and so if you go all around the board, which you go.. down, up, down, up, down, and then you'd go back around, okay. So, this item right here, these are all the different types of items right here, all the cards that I've put (they would be shuffled). If you were to roll the crate block, based off of the crate block item in the game where you would drop the item, the crate. You'd be able to place it behind you, so if you were right here.. you could use this item right here. Then if somebody were to land on it, they would have to go back 3 spaces after landing on it. (Also note: if you go back around the map, if you land on it, you would have to back 3 spaces too!) The golden hook! If you were to retrieve it and use it, let's say you were this character right here.. if you were to use it, you'd go ahead 3 spaces, and you would bring this character back 3 spaces as well, all based off of items in the game. The freeze ray: it's only based off of columns. So, if you were in this column over here, you couldn't hit this character over here without being in this column (instead). Also note: this hits multiple enemies in the column. So if you were to hit them, the next time that they would roll, they would have a singular die taken out of their next roll. And it's only used in 7 spaces, by the way. Ahead of you OR behind you. Yep! So alright! I also have this code right here that you can play to help immerse yourself in the game, and it's based off the game's music. So I'd recommend putting it on loop... and now this "Lever Passageway" (spot) is based off of a mechanic in the game. It's where you can flip a lever and it changes your direction. So if you were to land on it, you could go to this other orange space. But let's say the person behind you were to land on it, they wouldn't be able to because you already did, go on that space. So, that's right! This token, I haven't explained it too much. You would have to roll an extra die again, but you can only add 2, 3, or 4 to your roll. You can use as many as you like (4) during a single roll but be careful, because this bar goes down, which is the video game's. This obstacle block is also based off the obstacles in the game that you can see visually. If you were to land on it, your next roll would have 4 removed from it. To induce the reduction mechanic, that the (video) game has with the map, I have it so if you typically roll 4 dice and if the characters have gone around the map TWICE, then it adds 2 dice to each player alive and now it's added more of a random aspect to it, to kinda make it more suspenseful and intense. Then so this is all... oh! I almost forgot to mention the "Grappling" space. So this is grappling and is based off of the grappling mechanic in the game, which is pretty vital to get you ahead and makes you MUCH faster. So if you were to land on this space, you have to flip a coin, and if you were to get the guess that you well.. GUESSED! (ahaha) then you're able to get an extra die with your next roll, which makes you go farther, right. And alright! That is my deconstruction board game based off the video game SpeedRunners! Thank you!
