Ko Kret Pottery

Ko Kret is famous for its pottery, which is a really old craft passed down from the Mon people who live there. The pottery is special because it's made from clay that turns orange or red when it's baked, but it doesn't have any shiny stuff on it.

A long time ago, the Mon people made simple pots, bowls, and jars for everyday use. But they also made really pretty pots with special designs for gifts and for temples. They made cool patterns on the pots by drawing, cutting holes, or pushing into the clay. These patterns were often of flowers and leaves.

Today, people don't use pottery as much because we have plastic and other new materials. So, now pottery is mostly made for decoration or as special gifts. Even though it's not used as much as before, Ko Kret pottery is still really special because of the way it's made and the beautiful designs.

Ko Kret Pottery: A Unique Tradition

Ko Kret pottery is special because it’s made in a way that no one else can copy. The clay is special too; it’s kind of like a sponge and turns orange or red when it's baked in a hot oven. Sometimes, people add rice husks to make it black.

In the past, people made pots and jars for everyday use. But they also made really pretty pots with special designs. One way they did this was by pressing things like thorns or sticks into the clay to make patterns. Another way was to draw lines on the pots.

Ko Kret is also known for its big water jars. They came in different sizes, from really big ones to small ones.

Because of the special clay and the beautiful designs, Ko Kret pottery is a really important part of Thai culture.
