We originally weren't going to grow cucumbers this year. We decided we wanted to try growing fewer different types of vegetables, but focus on getting higher quantities and better quality. Heading towards the end of May though we were feeling pretty good, so we broke our rule, bought some extra seeds, and got to planting! Luckily it turned out and we don't regret it. The first couple seasons we had ZERO success, not a single cucumber, this year, we are starting to see the abundance other farmers talk about being able to get.
We grow three different varieities:
Lemon Cucumber: little yellow spherical cucumbers
Marketmore: your classic slicing, fresh eating pickle
National Pickling: you can eat it fresh, but is a variety that has been selected for how well it turns into a pickle
