Background

Coláiste Éinde is a co-educational secondary school in Sathill Galway, which caters for boys and girls from first year to Leaving Certificate.

Our school has 758 pupils and a staff of over 70 at present

Many of our staff are passionate about reading, and we were trying to implement small changes in the way that our students viewed reading, as many of our students are reluctant readers.

Our view was to engage our student body by having fun literacy initiatives throughout the year, so that literacy became embedded as part of the school culture.

Our literacy plan has progressed as part of our Literacy Plan. The pages that follow show the wide range of activities that both our Staff and our students have engaged in over the past year.

We have also made links with the wider community, linking up with our local church and local libraries.
