The Linguajoy Studio in Lauttasaari is our headquarters and home base for teachers, as well as a teaching venue where clubs take place. Please feel free to come to the space to pick up and prepare materials, relax and eat meals before your lessons, or to just say "Hi!". The Studio office hours are generally Mon- Thurs 9:00-17:00 (classes do take place there after 17:00 however). The address is Heikkiläntie 2A, 5th floor, 00210 Helsinki.
BUZZER
There is a buzzer at the street-level main entrance that is used to request entry into the building after 17:00. You'll hear a ringing noise in the studio lobby area when someone is trying to buzz in from downstairs. Inside the studio, to the left of the entrance door there will be a screen labeled "Main Door". To let someone into the building:
Press the "Talk" button. The video screen will turn on and you will be able to see who is buzzing.
Then press and hold the oval button with a key symbol underneath until you see from the screen that the person has entered the building.
HOW TO CLOSE UP THE STUDIO
You might be the last one to leave the studio in the evening, so please take the following steps to ensure the studio is closed up properly:
Always leave your teaching station clean and ready for your fellow colleagues to start teaching. Remember “clean-up” time at the end of the lesson, having the students return things to their places (e.g. pens, glue, scissors to the station box) and collect trash. When gluing or doing messier art projects, remember to cover surfaces and encourage the children not to put glue on the mats or floor (kindly wipe glue away from the floor asap).
Check that the kitchen appliances are off:
Coffee machine and stove (as kids may have put stove on)
Dishwasher: check that the water pipe is closed in upright position
Ensure all the windows are closed in the classrooms
Turn-off the lights
in all the classrooms, all three toilets, kitchen and hallway
There is no alarm to set for the Studio. When leaving, carefully close the door to the 5th floor (also the opposite door which takes you directly to the kitchen) and ensure that the door to the street is closed.
Apart from our Studio in Lauttasaari, Linguajoy rents venue spaces for our clubs including:
Primary school classrooms (ala-asteen koulu, peruskoulu)
Kindergartens (päiväkoti)
Playgrounds (leikkipuisto)
Other: community houses (asukastalo), apartment clubhouses, association spaces
You will find your Club's venue information on your classroom attendance roster. Info includes:
Address of venue
Classroom number (if venue is a school)
Contact person for the venue
Door and alarm codes (where applicable)
VENUE KEYS
Some of our venues provide us with keys for access. The teacher is responsible for the key assigned to Linguajoy to run the club at the venue.
When at the venue, keep the keys on you at all times to avoid getting locked out.
The teacher is responsible for possible change of the locks’ costs if the key is lost and for costs of setting off a false security alarm.
VENUE ALARMS
Some of our venues require us to deactivate the alarm upon entering and resetting it upon exiting. The particular code number will be provided to you on your attendance roster, memorize it or keep the info handy.
CHECKLIST FOR CLOSING UP EXTERNAL VENUES:
Ensure that everything is left the way it was, especially at primary schools.
Pre-document (e.g. take picture of the room with mobile phone if there is the possibility that furniture will be moved around)
Open and lock the doors according to the agreed practice as explained by the venue staff.
Make sure windows are closed, appliances are off, and lights are switched off.
