FreshRx for MOMs is a program that helps expectant mothers on Medicaid eat more fresh, local fruits and vegetables. To qualify you must currently be pregnant, a medicaid participant, and regularly see a doctor or midwife. Once you get a referral from your provider, visit the FreshRx booth at the Lexington Farmers Market (only the one on Saturdays from 9-12 in the Rupp Arena Parking lot), then you will receive $20 per week in tokens for up to 20 weeks as well as weekly recipes and health tips from a registered dietitian. Must present Medicaid card at first visit.
Birthright International is a pro-life organization that helps women who are pregnant or think they may be pregnant. They can offer information about pregnancy, childbirth, adoption, prenatal care, parenting skills, etc (they do not state they offer counseling on terminating pregnancy, seek other sources for that information). They also offer referrals for medical support, financial resources, housing/legal, social assistance, and professional counseling.
