Situated in the centre of the town of Chios, our school was built in 1929 and is the largest on the island of Chios. It consists of 14 classes and hosts 265 students, while the teaching staff numbers 27 teachers of various subjects(language,maths,English,art,music).. Through becoming participants in this project we will be given the opportunity to work in a different context which will combine multicultural and diverse aspects of how education can be transformed from a theoretical application of knowledge within the protected environment of the classroom into a real life life experience where students will be able to interact with their peers and share ideas, information, stories, interests and ideals. Thus, students will be able to overcome fears concerning education, acquire learning strategies to deal with learning problems and be given new motives to facilitate the educational procedure. Through communication with other cultures and people they will develop their social and sociocultural skills and from a young age they will realise that living in a small place does not necessarily entail isolation.
