EdTech Tools for Starting Conversations, Understanding Thinking, and Self-evaluation

Level: Beginner, Intermediate

Audience: Upper-Elementary, Secondary, Post-Secondary

Students want to speak! Sometimes we need an engaging start to a discussion or an inquiry. There are several apps online to get the class (or faculty meeting) started with engaging activities. Plickers, Mentimeter, Kahoot, Quizziz, Socrative, and Poll Everywhere are tools that can get a public or anonymous conversation started on important topics in your class. Post ideas with Answer Garden, Padlet, or Today’s Meet, Flipgrid. Google Forms, using the analytics feature, can also provide data to spur important conversations. This session will require audience participation to demonstrate applications of these tools.
