Be An Explorer!

Adventures with Google’s Geo Tools

Level: Beginner, Intermediate

Audience: Upper-Elementary, Secondary, Post-Secondary

You don’t have to be a Geography teacher to take advantage of Google’s geo tools to get your students researching, synthesizing, and creating content while collaborating! This session will introduce you to a number of tools, and we’ll play with My Maps and Tour Builder! What are a few of the things your students can do? Create a travelogue, a cultural map, or demographic data sets with My Maps. On your field trips have students take 360 Street Views and document where they’ve been with their own smartphones or 360 cameras! Can’t take students on a field trip? Create a virtual tour with Google Tour Builder! For the last 30-minutes of this session we will collaborate on a My Maps map, as well as set up your own Tour Builder tour. You’ll receive a brief overview of other tools such as Google Earth, Expeditions , Street View, Google Cultural Institute, Google Art Project, Local Guides... and how all of these tools link to Google Cardboard.
