Level: All Levels

Audience: All educators

Participants explore the reasons for having a professional website or blog, and determine whether they really want (or need) one. More importantly, participants develop a personalized strategy for growing their professional learning network and plan to harness social media to reach out to a global audience for professional learning and sharing. This includes how to get involved with professional development events!

Participants will:

  • Determine a purpose for maintaining a blog or website
  • Identify their focus, audience, and/or niche
  • Develop strategies for engaging audiences with Twitter, Google+, and Facebook (Daily Top 10; Polling; Daily Challenges, etc)
  • Choosing what and when to post
  • Develop strategies for using Pinterest to grow an audience
  • Find places and events to present your ideas (big and small) - Google Educator Group events; education organizations such as ASCD; ISTE; 21st Century Learning; CUE; your own webinars!
