I never thought anything I was doing could be useful to the ’real world’ until at least a couple of decades after I had done the research

In the UK, I was extremely thrilled to learn that the energy levels of hot molecules and their spectroscopy properties was of keen interest to people outside academia, to environmental groups and to industry, e.g. Servomex.

I am keen to learn more about how my research can benefit industry, society, environment etc.
