For the La Quinta Public Library's 6th annual Book Fest, join staff, patrons and guest authors, as we celebrate this year's theme of Horror stories.

While the main Library event is for patrons ages 18+, Makers 7 years of age and older can sign up to participate in our Tie-in Maker Craft program.  

BLEEDING FINGER CANDLES

For this program, you will have a 30-minute session to make a hand-dipped candle that will be in the shape of a severed finger.  The end result should be that your finger candle will appear to bleed as it burns. 

To make a reservation, please call the Creation Station at 760.777.7088 

and provide the names of each participant. Participants must be at least 

7 years of age due to the use of hot wax and heat plates.

There will be a max of 4 patrons for each 30-minute session

Patrons must be at least 7 years of age to enter the Creation Station's MakerSpace room.

OZOBOTS AFTER SCHOOL: Trash Sorting

On Thursday, February 6, 2025, Makers 7-13 years can stop by for our After School Ozobot program, where they will use codes made from color patterns to help their ozobot sort items into the correct trash bin.

Limited number of ozobots, so there may be some wait times

Patrons must be at least 7 years of age to enter the Creation Station's MakerSpace room.  

Anyone under the age of 14 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Makerspace Camp: 3D Printing & TinkerCAD

Session A: 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM (SESSION FULL)

Session B: 1:30 PM - 3:00 PM (SESSION FULL)

On Saturday, February 15, 2025, join the Creation Station staff for our 

MakerSpace Camp on 3D Printing & TinkerCAD.

This popular MakerSpace Camp will go over the basics of 3D Printing. Makers will need to select a print from our pre-approved files that can be found on our website or a small simple print that can be completed in about (1) hour.

While files are being printed, our technicians will share how 3D Printing is used in different careers and give a small lesson on creating 3D files in TinkerCAD.

This program is for Makers 7-13 years of age.

$5 Camp Fee

Fiber Art fans!! We've heard you and are happy to announce a new MakerSpace class that will be available at the Creation Station starting May 19th.

CROCHET 1-ON-1

Have you attended our past crochet events and needed some extra help?  

Are you brand new to crochet or are looking for some guidance with a project?

Schedule a class with Miss Michele, our resident Crochet Artist, for some 1-on-1 lessons. Choose from our current selection of topics:

Beginner Basics - Introduction and some common crochet stitches (Easy)

Granny Squares - Square panels for blankets, bags or clothes (Intermediate)

Hexagon Sweater - Making a sweater with a 6-sided panel (Intermediate)

Amigurumi (Ah-me-goo-rue-me) - Plushies/Stuffed Creatures or Figures (Hard)

These MakerSpace classes is designed for patrons 7 years of age and older.

The Crochet 1-ON-1 class has a $5 class materials fee and lasts between 1.5-2 hours depending on the topic and project's level of difficulty.

(Class is FREE if you provide your own materials)

The Digital Embroidery class is now available. Learn the basics on how to set up a design on our Bernette 79 Sewing/Embroidery Machine.

All MakerSpace classes are designed for patrons 14 years of age and older.

Our staff is also developing a workshop on how to use software to create custom designs, so keep an eye out for its release.

Sublimation Printing: Learn how to design templates and use heat presses to create custom designs with images created made out of heat transferable ink.

MakerSpace Level 1 Class Fee: $20 (Make-and-Take Custom Tumbler)

Must be 14 years of age or older to participate in our regular MakerSpace classes.

SLA (Resin) 3D Print Class

Hey Makers!  We now offering classes on using a Prusa SL1S SLA printer to make high definition prints.  Our staff will walk you through the steps to create an impresive print not typically made on more traditional 3D printers.

Please be advised that this class uses toxic chemicals in the creation

and post-processing of print such as:

* UV cured resin

* Isopropyl Alcohol 99%

For safety precautions, a disposable Respirator and nitrile gloves will be worn throughout the class. We recommend wearing old/stained clothes and/or an apron to protect clothing.

Vacuum Forming Level 1: Intro to Plastic Mold Making

(Ages 14+, Call/Email to schedule)

The Creation Station is now offering a Vacuum Forming class on how to set up and operate a Mayku FormBox to create plastic molds.

We'll show you which types of plastic to choose, how to set up your molds to cast and the proper temperatures and times to create a successful mold that can be used for casting forms, making chocolates, soaps or candles, & more.

There is a $10 class free to cover the cost of materials. 

No prerequisites are required for this class.

Maker Craft: Sonic Character Needle Felting

You better run at Super Sonic Speed for a chance to needle felt your favorite character from the Sonic the Hedgehog universe. 

Choose from Sonic, Tails, Knuckles or Amy. 

Due to the use of barbed needles, our staff recommend that participants be at least 10 years of age and older.
