Annual Creation Station Gingerbread Contest.
The Annual Gingerbread Contest is now discontinued.
Thank you to all that have participated in past years!
Starting on Wednesday, November 1st, 2023, Gingerbread enthusiasts will be able to start making their awesome Gingerbread builds as part of the 4th Annual Creation Station Gingerbread Contest.
There will be a 1st prize winner for each category in the following age divisions:
Age Divisions
Beginning Builder : Ages 7 and Under
Junior Builder : Ages 8 to 17
Master Builder : Ages 18 and Older

Categories
Traditional Gingerbread Houses
This type of build must be in the style of a traditional gingerbread house. Can only use gingerbread cookie for the main structure and royal icing or caramel as the “glue." Candies are to be used for decoration.
Fictional Inspired Gingerbread
Builders will select a piece of fiction from a novel, TV show, movie or video game to create a character or scene out of gingerbread, icing and candies. Can use non-traditional building supplies.
Ex. The Fellowship from Lord of the Rings, The Overlook Hotel from the Shinning, Max from Where the Wild Things are, Battle of Hogwarts from Harry Potter, Star Wars, Among Us etc.
Famous Landmarks
Builders will select a natural or man-made landmark from around the globe and construct it out of gingerbread, icing and candies. Can use non-traditional building supplies.
Ex. The Eiffel Tower, The Grand Canyon, Golden Gate Bridge, La Quinta Public Library, The Pyramids, The Great Barrier Reef, etc.
Works of Art
Builders will select a famous painting, sculpture or other medium and recreate it out of gingerbread, icing and candies. Can use non-traditional building supplies.
Ex. Van Gough's "Starry Night", Grant Wood's "American Gothic", Leonardo Da Vinci's "The Last Supper", Rodin's "The Thinker," etc.
Sumissions
Submissions will include:
Participants name, age, category, and description of their build.
Submitted with the entry, a photo with the builder standing next to their gingerbread creation as proof they built it and pictures from each side of the structure for evaluation.
A short description of their build (Why it was chosen, materials used, time to construct)
** If builders would like their photo included on our social media, a photo release form [found below] will also need to be completed
^ Participants do not need to be residents of La Quinta, MakerSpace members or library card holders
Judging Criteria
Each entry will be judged by the following criteria:
Appearance
Originality
Workmanship
Edibleness
Reference Recognizable/Traditional Standards Followed
Prizes
Prizes will be awarded to the 1st place winners of each category for every age division.
Master Builder Prizes: Up to $50 in Value
Junior Builder Prizes: Up to $30 in Value
Beginning Builder Prizes: Up to $20 in Value
All participants will receive a custom commemorative Gingerbread Contest keychain from the Creation Station after the winners are announced on December 16th, 2022.
