Multihull Fleet

Multihulls (boats with more than one hull) are fun boats usually capable of high speed sailing in the right conditions and also usually capable of being used for swimming / sunbathing / cruising platforms. Some can also be capsized fairly easily in windy conditions so attention to safety is important.

The multihull fleet varies according to what boats are currently in the club. All multihulls and all levels of sailing ability are welcome. The boats have different performance ratings so races are timed and the elapsed times are adjusted by the boats "Portsmouth Yardstick" numbers to determine corrected finishing positions. The level of skill required to handle the boats varies by boat design. There are other single class races run in Michigan for those who want more racing in their class.
