Since 2023, I have been a researcher at the Laboratory of Cellular Basis of Behavior and Disease with Dr. Edgar Soria-Gómez, within the IKUR Strategy initiative. My current work explores how CB1 signaling shapes prefrontal and hippocampal circuits in both health and psychiatric disorders, using cutting-edge tools such as in vivo calcium imaging in freely moving animals combined with behavioral analysis.
I obtained my Ph.D. in Biomedical Research from the Complutense University of Madrid in 2019, where I investigated the cannabinoid protective role on neonatal hypoxia-ischemia and its long-term impact on adult behavior. As a postdoctoral researcher, I followed these studies at the Institute of Neuroscience in Montpellier, studying neuron–glia interactions in Multiple Sclerosis and its connection to behavior deficits and disease progression. Later, at the NeuroMyoGène Institute in Lyon, I worked on a gene therapy project for Giant Axon Neuropathy, a rare neurodevelopmental disorder.
What I love most about this work is the constant opportunity to learn, the thrill of developing new ideas through the work itself and the discussions with other scientists, and the amazing people I could work with during these years.
