Kristy Washington is a student in North Carolina State University’s Principal Leadership Program, working to obtain her Master’s of Arts in School Administration. In 2011, she graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and minor in physics from Fayetteville State University. In 2013, she graduated with her Masters of Arts in Mathematics from Wake Forest University. In 2018, she graduated with her Masters of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction, with a Concentration in Teacher Leadership from Gardner Webb University.
Kristy began teaching mathematics at Cape Fear High School, in Cumberland County, in 2013. In 2018, she began teaching at Westover High School. She continued at Westover until she obtained a position as an instructional coach at Lewis Chapel Middle School in 2020. In 2021, Kristy began her internship at Cliffdale Elementary School where she had an unforgettable opportunity to reestablish Positive Behavior Intervention and Systems (PBIS) with teachers and students. She also had the opportunity to conduct formal and informal observations, and to facilitate restorative practices between students.
Fun Facts about Kristy:
In 2020, Kristy willingly jumped out of a perfectly well crafted, flying airplane.
Kristy is extraverted and bubbly.
Kristy loves crafting and making t-shirts.
On family trips, Kristy and her husband collect magnets from every new place they visit. With the magnets, they decorate their "Travel Adventures" magnet board.
Kristy's favorite season is Summer.
Kristy is a foster mom. She adopted her son when he was 9 days old.
If Kristy could go back in time and talk to her teenage self, she would tell her, "One day, everything will be okay. You, my friend, will be okay."
