Kristy Washington

My name is Kristy Washington, and I am the current Principal Resident of Cliffdale Elementary. It is my privilege and honor to be a part of the Cliffdale Elementary School family this year! I have worked along side my mentor principal, Ms. Suzanne Owen, while working toward obtaining my Masters in School Administration from NC State University.

I have worked in Cumberland County since 2013. Prior to coming to Cliffdale Elementary School, I was an instructional coach for a year and a high school math teacher for seven years. I have served on the curriculum writing team in Cumberland Coutny Schools, and the Equity Focus Classroom Management team where we built and implemented an ongoing professional development to support beginning teachers, new to the county teachers, and struggling teachers.

My core values are built on three concepts: belief, support, and trust. I believe that ALL students can learn and that ALL students should be given a quality education no matter where they live, the color of their skin, or their economic status. I believe teachers should be supported in their classrooms through quality professional development,
