KASI's Rubin in-kind programs are composed of three components: Rubin Operation/Commissioning Support, KMTNet Follow-up Observation through AEON, and Independent Data Access Center (Lite IDAC).
Dr. Narae Hwang (Program Lead/Program Manager)
[Note: Dr. Byeong-Gon Park who has served as Program Lead has retired from the role in April 2025]
KASI is participating in the commissioning and the operation of the Rubin Observatory by sending experienced staff scientist on site, and hiring observational specialists through joint fellowship programs with KIPAC/SLAC and NOIRLab/AURA.
Contribution Lead (CL): Dr. Narae Hwang (KASI)
KASI plans to support active Rubin/LSST follow-up observation with KMTNet that would be available through AEON. KMTNet is a network of 1.6m wide field survey telescopes located in Chile, Australia, and South Africa, providing 24-hour continuous coverage of transients.
Contribution Lead (CL): Dr. Min-Su Shin (KASI)
KASI plans to host an Independent Data Access Center (IDAC) with computing resources at the level of 20M total CPU-hrs and 500 TB continuous storage over the Rubin/LSST survey duration, and to have the IDAC interconnected to the major US data centers via high-bandwidth network.
Contribution Lead (CL): Dr. Chang Hee Ree
