As engineering educators, we cannot isolate ourselves from the work that engineers do. I believe that the best way to study something, is to immerse yourself into it, in our case, our Ph.D. requires us to specialize in a secondary engineering discipline. I am enrolled in a master's in industrial engineering looking to specialize in human factors and ergonomics.
My undergraduate education was a B.S. in Industrial Engineering. I also practiced engineering in the medical device industry, telecommunications, supply chain and entertainment industry.
To understand how systems work is an invaluable skill when problems are said to be systematic. This skill set will allow me to think of the flow and constraints to best tack the problems within the system, in this case, the educational and political systems of Puerto Rico.
This competency is direct, know about engineering to impact engineering education. I am doing a M.S. in Industrial Engineering. Additionally, traditional engineering disciplines are more valued in Puerto Rico due to their wide applicability.

I completed the Non-Thesis Master's degree at Purdue University in Spring 2024.
This degree helped me focus on IE research related to Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and has allowed me to write for future grants to pursue research in this field.
I have taken IE 578: Applied Ergonomics and IE/PSY 577: Human Factors, IE 590HFG: Human Factors of Gerontechnology, PSY591DS: Diversity Science, IE 588: E-work and E-systems, IE 659: Human in Computing, and IE 590: Human Factors of Medical Devices. I also participated in an IE human subjects research study related to automated driving and attention.

Most IE courses I took had industry projects related to them. Each of them is detailed in my CV.
2017-2020
This work demonstrates how I used bi data analytics to create knowledge in the biostatistics realm.
August 2014-Ongoing
My background is highly connected to engineering, and I know there is much to do still. Hope you get to relate with one of my experiences! Write in the forum section if you like!

Fall 2024
To fulfill this competency, I wish to work on the course design and syllabus design side. I will work with Dr. Godwin on an introductory engineering course at Cornell University. I will likely apply engineering knowledge in the topics of this course.
Future plans that may help me achieve this goal.
