To recognize problems that can be categorized as engineering education problems as well as come up with plans for solutions to these problems. I also plan to plan backwards and seek ways to bring educational experienced to K-12 education in Puerto Rico related to Engiring.
This skill will be invaluable to keep developing in Puerto Rico because much of the population does not differentiate educational problems from political problems.
Curriculum and Educational Standards are regulated by the Department of Education of Puerto Rico. These are only available for a limited number of subjects since the population only has access to things in the Spanish language.
Just recognizing these problems is an advancement towards a better engineering education since these problems may not even be visible without the correct lenses. I would like to facilitate providing engineering standards like the one in this book but in the context of Puerto Ricans ' situation.

These experiences complement my aspiration to proficiency in this competency since they directly show that I have the ability to communicate knowledge I have acquired to a diverse set of audiences.
FIE 2023 Conference: 18-21 October 2023
My contribution to this paper is regarding synthesizing the introduction, literature review, and communicating findings. We are currently in the revision and first draft submission process.
Although this does not directly relate to my dissertation work, it mainly concerns student learning and allowed me to pull from my mathematics teaching certificate experience, CAP (content, assessment, and pedagogy) course, and my human factors knowledge.
ASEE Conference Summer 2022
As part of the ENE explorer's program, I worked with Dr. Jason Morphew to understand how students realize transfer when an engineering design project is integrated into a physics laboratory. We discovered that we need to implement "transfer-stimulating questions" to facilitate transfer of concepts from physics into engineering design, leaving little room to chance. Our intended audience was possibly middle and high school teachers that desired to implement an engineering design project into their own physics laboratories.

I created this teaching portfolio about my experiences becoming a certified teacher in Puerto Rico. There are instances where I would introduce an engineering concept to students so they could better understand where mathematics could be applied. PPM stands for "Programa de Preparación de Maestros" which means "Teacher Preparation Program"
I created this workshop as part of the course ENE506: Content, Assessment, and Pedagogy. This workshop is intended highlight the thinking and reflecting part of Kolb's Experiential Learning Cycle. By using past experiences, we can harness part of the benefits of experiential learning.
This section demonstrates what I am currently working on related to applying engineering education principles to the solution of instructional or curricular problems

These experiences demonstrate my aspiration to proficiency by continually working on this competency.
Summer 2021 [Currently Paused]
This research explores teaching methods on teaching ethics within the context of industrial engineering. This research applies to this competency since it gives me insight into teaching engineering ethics in the future.
Fall 2024
To fulfill this competency, I wish to work on the course design and syllabus design side. I will work with Dr. Godwin on an introductory engineering course at Cornell University.
Future plans that may help me achieve this goal.

Fall 2023
I plan to create presentations to bring to Puerto Rican schools through associations and personal connections. I offered the oSTEM presentation virtually for UPRM students to attend.
Fall 2026
Through my connections, I plan to advise or help certified teachers in Puerto Rico that want to incorporate engineering concepts to their classes in other scientific disciplines in K-12.
