Thinking critically and reflectively is a privilege we as educated people can develop. It is to further explore what is being said, not necessarily the way it is being said. It is a mechanism to become vulnerable, to listen and reevaluate our own notions upon certain subjects. We can facilitate this through others and listening to different perspectives on the same issue at hand, usually a social issue without a single correct answer in engineering education.
As an undergraduate university student, there were many prompted moments where we had to reflect on things we did. As a graduate student, this is almost a daily activity. We have had opportunities in our engineering education courses to self-reflect and share with others the things we reflect on.
A lot of people want to do good for society, but we must help people think of constraints, limitations or further than they ever thought they could. It is in community that we thrive together, not solely on individual thought.
This competency is an invaluable skill to solve the more significant problems in society. Puerto Rico and the territories need more people to think critically about each islands' future rather than think in the short term, as has typically been done in politics. I plan to do this by empowering students and professionals through creating deep-rooted connections, community trust and giving presentations.

Invited to review a Journal paper in the Journal of Pre-College Engineering Education Research (J-PEER) related to an area I have been becoming an expert on. I have Accepted the article with minor revision and left critical feedback.
September 2022-June 2024
We had monthly BRIDGE Meetings where we get together with other graduate students to listen and talk about positive and negative things going on in our lives related to personal or graduate school topics.
September 2022-June 2024
Wrote a debrief to summarize the events and impact to 40 students with pictures [Found here]. This reflection made me understand the value of my work and the emotional response it triggers to people that will be living these experiences.
Two students have informed me they have applied and got accepted to Purdue Summer Programs and are considering graduate school. One student informed they were accepted and admitted to Purdue University.

The intercultural development inventory was designed to help assess cross-cultural competence for a specified group. In our ENE 554: Globalization and Engineering course, we took this survey to reflect on our own development in cross-cultural interaction. The score is not the essential piece of information shared here, it is about the self-reflection to improve going forward.

The NSF GRF is a prestigious fellowship where applicants have to create a research idea, justify why it is important and structure the research design. I reflected critically, justified broader impacts, and designed what the term "Inclusive acculturation" should mean. Reflection in this process occurred as I decided what was most important to me and developed a new way of understanding acculturation. The feedback I received for the application was also a valuable way of reflecting on the importance of the proposed work and how to improve it.
August 2017-Present
The projects listed in my CV are examples where we had to think critically and reflect over the requirements of projects to engineer solutions for each of the organizations. The TA positions made me reflect on my own projects to design case studies for other students during the pandemic.
May 2021
I created this teaching portfolio about my experiences becoming a certified teacher in Puerto Rico. I had to think critically about the things I had done and my coursework in education to see how they applied to make a well-rounded teacher. PPM stands for "Programa de Preparación de Maestros" which means "Teacher Preparation Program"

These self-assessments made us reflect on how we are improving with differents aspects of the course.
These essays made me reflect on my own goals and aspirations to find subjects that interest me around the history of engineering education.
I created this workshop as part of the course ENE506: Content, Assessment, and Pedagogy. This workshop is intended highlight the thinking and reflecting part of Kolb's Experiential Learning Cycle. By using past experiences, we can harness part of the benefits of experiential learning.
