Maybe you've started some family Bible time.
Maybe you've tried asking better questions.
Maybe you've noticed more opportunities to talk about Jesus in ordinary life.
Or maybe… you've done absolutely none of the above.
If that's you, this article is for you.
Because there's something we need to remember:
Christian parenting isn't about getting everything right.
You will get it wrong
There will be days when you forget to pray.
Days when family Bible time doesn't happen.
Days when you lose your temper.
Days when your child asks a question and you have absolutely no idea how to answer it.
There will be days when you look at another Christian family and think:
“They seem to have this sorted. We definitely don't.”
Don't let that turn discipleship into a burden of guilt.
Your child's salvation does not depend on your parenting performance.
Jesus saves.
Not your perfect family devotions.
Not your brilliant answers.
Not your consistency.
Jesus saves.
So what does faithfulness look like?
It looks like starting again.
Lost your temper?
Apologise.
Missed Bible time for two weeks?
Open the Bible again.
Didn't know how to answer their question?
Say, “I don't know. Let's find out together.”
Forgot to pray?
Pray now.
Christian parenting isn't about creating a flawless family.
It's about faithfully pointing your family towards a flawless Saviour.
And perhaps that's one of the most powerful things your children can learn from you.
They don't need to see a parent who never gets things wrong.
They need to see what it looks like when a Christian gets things wrong and runs back to Jesus.
They need to hear:
“I'm sorry. I was wrong. Will you forgive me?”
They need to see you pray when you're struggling.
They need to see you open the Bible when you don't have the answers.
They need to see you trust God when life is difficult.
That's discipleship too.
So don't compare.
Don't panic.
Don't give up because you've missed a few days.
And don't believe that being a good Christian parent means never failing.
Faithfulness isn't perfection.
Faithfulness is continuing to follow Jesus—and continuing to point your children towards Him.
So if you've been doing brilliantly, keep going.
If you've been struggling, keep going.
If you've stopped altogether, start again.
Grace is for parents too.
🧠 ONE THING TO REMEMBER
You don't have to disciple your child perfectly. You just need to keep faithfully pointing them to the perfect Saviour.
