Lucille Fox’s obituary in the newspaper - born September 17, 1916 and died May 22, 2018:

Lucille Marie (Parks) Fox a resident of Tulsa, Oklahoma passed away May 22, 2018 at the age of 101. She was born September 17, 1916 to Clinton Lisle Parks and Emma Wilhelmina (Beckman) Parks in Warroad, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her husband Eugene Henry Fox in 1981.

Lucille and Gene raised their two children, Frank and Helen, in the Louisville Heights area of North Tulsa. Gene worked as a union printer at the Tulsa World until his retirement in 1979 while Lucille enjoyed a second career as a nurse's aide on the psychiatric wing of St John's Hospital in Tulsa.

From her roots in northern Minnesota Lucille was transplanted as a young teenager to New Orleans, Louisiana when the family moved there in the 1920s while her father maintained his employment as a switchman on the Illinois Central Railroad. During the 1930s Great Depression the family moved to a farmstead outside Ponchatoula, a whistle stop on the IC, where Lucille experienced the challenges of country living: hand-pumped water and the proverbial outhouse.

Lucille graduated from Ponchatoula High School and eventually gravitated back to New Orleans to work in various retail stores. One of her fun memories was visiting friends in Montana on vacation; whenever she appeared at the Saturday dance the band would strike up “Dixie”.

It was in New Orleans in 1942 that Lucille met a dashing young Air Force recruit named Gene Fox. They would marry after Gene returned from his WWII service in North Africa and Italy and move to Dayton, Ohio where they started a family. In 1949 they moved back to Gene’s Oklahoma roots. Once their children were grown Lucille started her work at Saint Johns.

After son Frank wandered off to Peace Corps teaching, graduate school and eventual life in Maryland both Lucille and Gene thoroughly appreciated the opportunity to support and love daughter Helen's growing family of children and grandchildren for many years.

We celebrate Lucille's long and full life. She is survived by her sister Inez Parker of Ponchatoula and her children Frank Fox of Asheville, North Carolina and Helen Belden of Tulsa; and grandchildren John, Tony Robin, and Tina of northeastern Oklahoma; and many great and great-great-grandchildren.
