1800s

John Husen left Germany before his parents because his Uncle Wilhelm was in the U.S. He worked on a thrashing rig. Died of pneumonia at 22 years. He never married. (John was Grandma Marie’s brother)

Mrs. Neurnburg, treasurer, Mrs. Beckman (in middle), president, & Mrs. Jahn, secretary - Mrs. Beckman is Elsie's mother.

1900s to1910s

Frank Peters was a first cousin of Grandma Elsie. Frank’s mother, Lina, was a sister to Elsie’s father, August Beckman. Frank came to the U.S. in 1913 as a sailor on an American Merchant ship to Astoria, OR. In 1919 he came to Perham. He moved to Jamestown in 1920.

We had our post office moved to another place it's much nicer & our box no. is 66. Min & I went & some more girls went Halloweening and we took a ladies cow & calf and tied it on the Dr. fence and when we run home we fell over 20 cream cans & Min skined her leg & I fell & hit my face on the ground & I had a fat face ever since. the police got after us & we couldn't get home we fooled them & went home in the morning before every one was up. Photo on the left: To Elsie from her sister Minnie Heilman: Here’s a picture of a bunch of us. Alton is the little fellow. Lorna with her hand on a dog. Mrs. Thorp and me sitting higher up. We’ve all got crabs. We got 86 that day and if you’ll look real close you can see Fred’s back and Mr. Thorp on the side of Alton as they were watching the kettle. Alton is four here and Lorna 12 years. This is taken by a river near where we live. (in Oregon)
