The following is taken from a document produced by Vi (Flatau) Johnson: Vi asked her mom, Elsie Flatau, many questions in January of 1988 when she was visiting Port Angeles. The account was compiled by Vi in March 1988. Minnie (Beckman) Heilman read it over in February 1988 to add a note or two.

John Louie Ludwig Beckman

John worked on a farm at Arthur, North Dakota for Knudson's.

He met Anna Graff (Graffs and Beckman's were neighbors in Perham) and they were married January 31, 1922 when John was 30.

They lived on the Beckman farm for a short time. John went to South Milwaukee and found a job with line Material Company and after getting situated there he sent for Anna.

In 1962 they moved to Lodi California.

John and Anna had two daughters.

John Beckman’s obituary in the newspaper:

John L. Beckman, 77, of 311 1/2 East Walnut Street, Lodi, died Saturday morning in a local rest home following an extended illness.

A native of Minnesota Beckman moved to Lodi in 1962. He was a member of Saint Ann's Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife Anna Beckman of Lodi; two daughters Mrs. Lucille Ortis of Franklin, Wisconsin and Mrs. Marie Walsh of Merrill Oregon; two brothers Emil Beckman of Minnesota and William Beckman of Oregon; five sisters, Mrs. Emma Parks of Louisiana; Mrs. Clara Walther of Lodi; Mrs. Minnie Heilman of Oregon; Mrs. Elsie Flatau of Minnesota and Mrs. Marie Friestad of Minnesota; and three grandchildren.
