The Star Show Begins.
The star show began at the
midnight hour and was packed
with information for the
full 45 minutes it lasted.
For the next 15 minutes
after the show, soft whispers
filled the air.
The deck lights slowly glowed
brighter as the excitement
built higher.
Not wanting to let go of the
moment,
knowing there's not an iota of
foment.
All raised their hands up high
in a toast, each acknowledging
one another, they pantomime
a sip of wine
Edda had somewhere to go and
missed the group toast.
Spoken Words.
The mic shines under a beam
of light waiting for someone
to read a passage of their work.
A darkened shadow approaches,
standing there in silence waiting
for the crowd to notice. The face
was covered with a black scarf.
The chatter became less and
joined the night silence.
Whispers rolled over
the crowd.
What is it?
Is it a girl?
Is it a guy?
No. It is silence.
A thunderous roar explodes.
"I AM NOT A MACHINE,
I AM A HUMAN BEING."
A long silence followed.
It felt like an eternity.
The voice left the stage.
Saying no more.
Stunned, all remained frozen.
Not a clap, not a sound.
The shadow returning,
with words burning.
In greater volume, punching
the air with a fist, shouting,
I AM A HUMAN BEING!"
Everyone yelled in rage.
"I AM A HUMAN BEING,
I AM NOT A MACHINE."
Edda pulled the scarf from her
head and ran from the stage.
She could still hear the roar of
the crowd repeating her words
as she ran down the long hall
to her room.
She had commanded the crowd
to fullfil its destiny.
Like an Ebb Tide, their shouts
slowly drifted to silence.
Tears sliding down their
cheeks cleansing the
sorrows within.
All felt Liberated.
