Define Your Concept

Mobile Game

Your concept must be for a Mobile Game. It must be able to be played on a tablet or phone. What the concept is and it's genre, are up to you. (avoid explicit or objectionable content, similar to Apple App Store Guidelines)

Below is a list of mobile game genres for reference along with examples:

  • Adventure (Pokemon Go, The Walking Dead)

  • Action (Injustice, Jetpack Joyride, Super Mario Run)

  • First-person shooter (Call of Duty, PUBG Mobile)

  • Puzzle (Tetris, Gardenscapes, Cut the Rope)

  • Role-playing (World of Warcraft, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Assassin's Creed Identity)

  • Simulation (The Sims, Minecraft, Fallout Shelter)

  • Strategy (Clash of Clans, Hearthstone, Plants vs. Zombies)

  • Sports (Madden, NBA 2K, FIFA)

  • Other: You may have other ideas that aren't listed here.

Concept Presentation

Once you have an idea for your concept, you will create a Google Slides presentation to pitch to the class. Your initial presentation should include the following:

  • Name or Title of the game (may be tentative at the beginning)

  • Include your name and email

  • Game Genre

  • Audience (age group the game is for)

  • Objective of the game

  • Short synopsis/elevator pitch of the story

  • Benchmark examples of existing games similar to your concept for frame of reference

  • Benchmark images showing the visual style you plan to use

You will update this presentation at the end of the semester with all of your artwork for this concept.

Game Doc:

create your own Game Doc, to record your thoughts of all of the needed pieces as well as the goals and gameplay mechanics. For an example, see the doc by Sarah Ling.

Presentation Examples

You will make a presentation to track your process and be able to pitch your game after concept and production completion.
