Connection: This video of light reactive art aligns with the second Illinois Professional Teaching Standard and the knowledge indicator 2D) Understands the relationship of knowledge within the disciplines to other content areas and to life applications;" This lesson was a cross curricular lesson between Art and Science. Through this lesson students were able to see the direct relationship between their science lesson about Light beams and receptors to the application in an art lesson creating light reactive art.
Importance: The importance of understanding the relationship of knowledge within the disciplines to other content areas is essential for competent teachers. Art education has the ability to cross into many other content areas which can support learning and reinforce concepts.
