The summer term has certainly been a busy and successful one for many areas of Student Leadership here at Longdendale. Learners from full breadth of school have been getting involved to assist and improve life for learners and staff alike.

Student Leadership Training & Tie Ceremony

Year 10 student leaders, who applied to carry their roles forward into Year 11, had the opportunity to partake in a training day in collaboration with the student leaders from Rayner Stephens in June. All learners displayed excellent leadership qualities as well as clear and inspiring visions for how we can drive student leadership forwards across the trust. Their ideas ranged from improvements to the current leadership model to ways to raise LGBT+ awareness and acceptance across the trust.

Their achievements were then celebrated in the evening with our annual Tie Ceremony, publicly recognising their contributions and rewarding them for their previous and forthcoming hard work in improving life for all learners here at Longdendale.

Year 7 Transition Leaders

The summer term has seen an overwhelming number of current Year 7 learners apply for the coveted position of Transition Leader for the upcoming Class of 2024. The fourteen learners that were selected have excelled themselves during our three transition days, displaying our core ASPIRE values in all of their conduct and making the new Year 6 students feel welcome and comfortable in preparation for staring with us in September.
