                                                                      Westjet Case Study

WestJet is a Canadian airline created in 1996 that has become a popular choice among travelers and travel brokers. They have a reputation for boarding passengers based on the color of their socks or their zodiac sign. They are also the "Most Trusted Canadian Airline" for the past two years. WestJet offers a wealth of useful guest anecdotes and experiences that have been shared all over the world, such as when Robert Palmer, WestJet's manager of public relations, disguised himself as "Elvis" on three separate flights.

Ways I could apply to this is to always provide good services to the guest. Good service could apply anywhere for where I am at especially when it is most needed which I already know. Westjet makes sure to provide the best for their guest which everyone can apply to this. Maintaining good service can always bring more guest back to you and can just be something everyone can do even when you're with friends and family. Not only is good service applied at jobs, we can apply it anywhere just like I've mentioned since its always great to keep up a good habit of treating others with kindness.

Something that surprised me is the amount of effort they have put in for their guest. They entertain their guest,  and give big amounts of effort especially having them fly free on Valentines day. Even how much they just really care for their guest. This surprised me a lot because they maintain such good service towards them. Also since theres not a lot of places that provide this much entertainment for their guest.

                                    Omotenashi   4/ 26/22

In Japan Omotenashi means to wholeheardtedly look after guest. This term is used for the Japanese mindest of hospitality to welcome and treat guest. The basic point of omotenashi is to demonstrate how Japanese host treat their visitors in a respectful way, paying close attention and providing consistent care. Being a visitor in Japan entails accepting the services from your host. So not only is your host showing an example of omotenashi we should do the same as it counts and accepting services and enjoying your time is considered respectful.

After my research on omotenashi, it has showed me the amount of effort they put in just to show respect and to be consistent with care. Ways I could apply to this is that showing acts of kindness could mean a lot more even with the slightest bit, showing effort and attention towards guest and more could have a better impact for both guest and host. More ways I could show the meaning of omtenashi is to pay close attention to who I am helping and to be focused directly rather than having my attention on mutiple things.

Spotlight on Four Season Hotels and Resorts

Through my research of the four season hotels I learned that the four season hotel was founded by Isadore Sharp in March 21, 1961 at Toronto, Ontario, Canada. There in total of 118 properties in 47 countries, it was named four season hotels because it symbolizes the branches that are divided into four groups. In  1961, the first four season hotel opened up a motel downtown in Toronto, Canada. As for their service they "treat others as we'd wish to be treated ourselves, they provide a unique atmosphere and architecture at each location.

Four Season Hotels is an luxury, comfort, and service, their top top properties start at 1,000 per night or more. Although  during the low season it is $260 and on average it is $350 per night. Four season hotel's main focus is to show respect when they communicate  and respect differences. Their objective is to be recognized as the company that manages the best hotels. Which their philosophy is that the service is more important and the interactions with guests.

Chapter 3: Understanding The Consumer

In this chapter Nevin designed a curriculum that would precisely meet the demands of baby boomers, as well as a delivery method that would have them raving to their friends about their experiences. His priorities include independence and safety, as well as having fun. He recognized that the first day of any training program is often the most intimidating. Despite the fact that skiing is mostly a practical sport, Nevin created several pages of homework reading for his students, outlining all of his beliefs on paper and included graphics to assist the message sink in. This is handed to each student at the end of the first day and is quite uncommon in ski instruction, which generally employs the basic'follow me' method. Nevin set a very good example to satisfy his customers and I would follow the variety  of techniques Nevin provided to satisfy his own customers specifically talking to the guest in person instead of online.

Case Study:  The Lopesan Group, Gran Canaria, Spain

For this case study, I discovered  that the more effort you put in for your guests, the greater  the influence on customers service would be. It has the potential to attract  additional individuals to enjoy the same excellent service that was provided. Lopez  has came up with a number of strategies to invite more guest and spark their interest from the company.  " There is no second chance for a first impression" it is very important to wow guest even with the slightest effort. This  can be applied to Guam’s Hospitality because cause of how much effort that is needed to keep an ongoing business with satisfied guest. This case study surprised me a lot by how much Lopez wanted to put so much effort even if it was pretty pricey, people still decided to go because of how enjoyable their experience is.

GCC 2021 Presentation

October 22, 2021

The presentation provided information to us students regarding the opportunities us high school  students have. The programs that were mentioned was giving the information about the Dual Enrollment Programas well as the (WE) Work experience program for us to look more into. Furthermore were informed about our high school credits, we are given the opportunities to  make up our credits along with students who are lacking  credits. Students also get the opportunity to work to help ourselves to where we need to be.

I was very surprised with the amount of information that was brought to my attention and everyone else. The programs will be helpful to us students through our journey. In addition to that the progam surprised me with the amount of opportunities that we actually have. Which is why I think the program was helpful to us because we were not fully educated about our credits and programs we can look into. Addition to being able to give ourselves a chance to have a better perpective in life choices.
